John,

Thank you for your kind words, but I suspect your estimate is rather
off. For 400 ASA (aka ISO 400/27), the exposure time would have been
factor of 16 (=6400/400) longer, i.e. about half a second.

That is such good quality for a shot taken at the equivalent of 6
minutes and 40 seconds at 400ASA!

Subject: K5-IIs AF in low light with a PESO-example

Hi All!

First, a disclaimer:
This is not meant to be a result of a comprehensive testing but rather a
subjective account from a
weekend of shooting photos in low light.

So, during this weekend, I found an approximate level of light at which
the AF on my new K5-IIs
starts failing.
I found that for the scene where the light requires the following
settings: ISO 6400, f/1.8 and 1/25s - 1/15s, it is still capable of
focusing.
But half a stop to a stop below that, it starts failing (depending on
the scene/subject) So, if I
calculate it correctly, that combination gives me about 0 to -0.5 EV.

now, I haven't looked at how accurate/consistent the focusing was,
although I seem to see some good
photos.
Here is an example of a photo taken at that EV with 77/1.8 (handheld):
