I wonder if the silver finish on the lens is really chrome, as Pal
seemed to indicate.  The finish on my 43mm doesn't look like chrome.  I
don't believe that aluminum can be chrome plated.

What exactly to you mean with lens barrel? The lens barrel (strictly defined) are 
black on all Limited lenses and similar to the barrels found on the FA* lenses. Made 
of steel perhaps? Its the outer cover thats anodized. According to Herbert Keppler 
this outer body is made of brass. Keppler also had a write up on the anodizing process 
involved. I don't remember the details.
