There's no dishonor in after exposure manipulation, there was an
incredible amount of distraction in the background of this shot, so I
used a lot of selective blur in Photoshop and a lot of layers to create
a fairly smooth transition, (which probably wouldn't work at higher
resolutions. It was a lot of work, but I thought it was worth it for the
result. You're not doing photojournalism here so pretty much anything
goes. Modifying backgrounds is a time honored technique, made incredibly
easy using digital medium compared to the effort it would have taken
using analog film...
