Sounds like an absolutely amazing exhibit. The Davidson and Burrows photos must have been moving. I've not seen either big and on a wall.
Cool photos by you. X-Pro 1, eh? I hate you... ;-) cheers, frank --- Original Message --- From: Chris Mitchell <[email protected]> Sent: January 13, 2013 1/13/13 To: "Pentax-Discuss Mail List" <[email protected]> Subject: PESOs: London Exhibition Bob W and I went to see Everything Was Moving: Photography from the 60s and 70s at the Barbican. http://www.barbican.org.uk/artgallery/event-detail.asp?ID=13613 It was excellent, but huge - over 400 photographs from 12 photographers. Highlights for me were: - Bruce Davidson's pictures from the Alabama freedom rides. Very powerful and captures perfectly the divided community. - William Eggleston (he who polarised PDML opinion in Chicago 2010). I just love his realism and Bob and I commented on the influence he must have had on the likes of Magnum man, Martin Parr - Larry Burrows's pictures from Vietnam. I've seen them in newspapers, but seeing the massive prints brings out their full impact. If you're thinking of going, you'll have to be quick; it ends today (Jan 13) sadly. But you'll get the bonus of seeing a steam train running on the Underground at Barbican station to celebrate the 150th anniversary. A couple of PESOs shot from the hip to avoid the "no phtography in here" police: http://www.mitch.myzen.co.uk/Barbican_1/slides/DSCF0243.html http://www.mitch.myzen.co.uk/Barbican_1/slides/DSCF0257.html The attentive among you might see that they were taken on my new Fuji X-Pro 1. More of that later when I've given it a proper workout.
