I think 1/500 is the fastest shutter speed. You need to set the body to 1/8. > 6) I have read that mirror and shutter vibration are a big problem > with the Pentax 67 bodies. I use mirror lockup as much as I can, even handheld. The shutter does not vibrate the camera much at all. Most of the vibration comes from the mirror. With mirror lockup all the shaking happens after the shutter has closed. Good tripod technique also helps a lot. > 7) Some things that I've read say that the camera and lenses have two > bayonets, an "inner" bayonet and a "outer" bayonet. The outer bayonet is for the really big lenses such as the 600mm f/4 and 800mm f/4, and possibly the 1000mm f/8 mirror lens. The outer bayonet is fully manual so you must stop the lens down manually. There are two types of extension tube available. A set of three for the inner bayonet and a set of two for the outer. There's also a helicoid extension tube available, and even a gigantic bellows, both inner-bayonet I believe. There is no teleconverter available for the outer bayonet - those lenses are long enough already ;) > 8) Any lenses to stay away from? Any particularly outsanding ones > (yes, I already know about Aaron's 75mm f/2.8 :)? Any recommendations > for any particularly good pairs or triplets of prime lenses? The 45mm f/4 is a jewel. Small light and oh-so-sharp. I've also tried the older 300mm f/4 lens and this is also really good. I would have bought a 165/2.8 today but the dealer found fungus in it when I phoned :( > 9) Is the film loading particularily onerous, or is it comparable to > 6x6 TLR bodies? Loading is not a problem for me. Unloading is a bit harder than my previous system (Mamiya RB) but I'm getting used to it. It just seems a bit easier to fumble. Sometimes I wonder if the door should be hinged on the left, so the opening could give my fingers better access to the exposed film. > 9) Any other good questions to ask which I haven't? :) The 6x7 takes a weird battery that, where I am, is hard to find and quite expensive. The 67II takes 2CR5 batteries which are easy to find but still expensive. There's a trick to being able to release the shutter without film in the camera. That's all I can think of for now...
