Paul, I can't comment on Bluetooth connectivity, but a few
observations on EyeFi.

Nutshell: I wouldn't count on it in a critical situation.

I got the Eye-Fi Pro X2 8GB card for Christmas last year. Since then I
have tried to use it in a wireless tethering capacity at two studio
shoots. I was able to get it all setup at home and apparently working,
but when I setup at the shoot (ie away from my home) it failed to
connect. First time I realized that I needed to use Ad-Hoc WiFi mode;
the second time -- I have no frikken clue. It was just completely
balky.

The other thing is: it's disappointingly slow. You don't want to be
transferring raw images! Even large JPEGs take way too long -- much
longer than WiFi is capable of. There's something wrong with the way
the EyeFi firmware works as it comes nowhere near to efficient use of
the available bandwidth.

The EyeFi software is annoying and persnickety too. It's really
designed to automatically upload images from a P&S directly to a cloud
service like Instagram, and getting it to do anything else is
difficult. It can be done, but they just don't make it easy. The first
annoyance is that the software insists on you setting up a profile
with EyeFi even though you probably just want to directly connect from
your camera to your PC/Mac, but oh no: you _must_ configure a
connection to EyeFi headquarters. If you don't do that you cannot
complete any other configuring. Pain in the ass.

I had high hopes for the Eye-Fi but it has ended up unused in my kit bag.
