I also have a high regard for Metz flashes (going back to my old potato masher for wedding photography days). I also have the 58 AF-1 and like it very much (which I should for the money - although my employer purchased it for me). : )
The only thing to note (which you probably already know) is that you must be careful to purchase one made for your brand of camera. Not like the old standard hot shoe days. The only other thing about the 52 AF-1 is that it uses the touchscreen interface. Since this is a fairly new innovation, only time will tell if it holds up as well as the old "tried-and-true" interface or if it will be problematic. However, I have such a high regard for Metz products that I have a hard time believing that they wouldn't have gone with it if they thought it was going to be a real problem. I also wonder if the touchscreen interface takes any extra battery life, as compared to the older versions. (Obviously not a huge factor with rechargables, anyway). There is a nice promo video for the 52 AF-1 on YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2rXKpCPrPqo Frankly, I think I would have been quite happy with the 52 AF-1 for the money, had it been available back when I was shopping. -- PDML Pentax-Discuss Mail List [email protected] http://pdml.net/mailman/listinfo/pdml_pdml.net to UNSUBSCRIBE from the PDML, please visit the link directly above and follow the directions.
