On aps-c i love the 50 for portraits. I like to work somewhat close though. My 
favorite normal lens on aps-c is 28mm...works out to 42mm or so. I hate 50mm on 
full frame, but 40ish is nice indeed. 35 is often too wide imo, though great 
for landscapes.
