I bet that if you took the same photographers and had them cover sports and weddings as well, you would get a lot of the same parallels. In high school, I competed on the speech team, in improvisational speaking. One of the first tricks you learn is to have half a dozen canned speeches that you can modify and tune to a given topic. I bet that photographers that photograph improvisational subjects, whether they realize it or not, have a tool kit of standard photographs and compositions that they know work, and can use or adapt to a situation, without having to start from scratch. I think that one of the biggest ways that the PDML has helped my photography is that it gives me the opportunity to steal the tool kits from some very good photographers. When I look at a scene, I can think about who I know that does well photographing that sort of subject, and think about what one of their photos would look. -- Larry Colen [email protected] sent from i4est -- PDML Pentax-Discuss Mail List [email protected] http://pdml.net/mailman/listinfo/pdml_pdml.net to UNSUBSCRIBE from the PDML, please visit the link directly above and follow the directions.
