knarF, have you seen any of the 'Fat Tire' bikes in use in the snow? They're a rather specialized bike built specifically for travel in snow, sand or just plain bushwacking - radically large tire - typically 26X4.0" - and frame design to handle the larger tire. I first heard about them in Alaska and now they're gaining popularity in the lower 48, in fact there is a race series for them and a race was held recently in Traverse City area. This link is to one of many fat tire bike builders.

I didn't get nearly as many photos on Friday as I had hoped because (a) I was working and spent much of my time underground on the subway, and, (b) there were far fewer messengers on the road. Many clients were closed or closed early so the messengers spent a lot of "standing by".

This is the only "environmental portrait" I got. Jason's attire reminded me of armour, hence the title:

Hope you enjoy. Comments welcome.

Cheers,
frank
