There is its format and then there is the book format. A good photo
book format will not favor horizontal over vertical format
photographs. There is absolutely nothing wrong with a vertical
formatted photograph. It has no format to "overcome" unless it is
overcoming a predjudice on the part of the presenting format (for
example, our landscape formatted computer monitors that show a
landscape to fuller advantage. A book page can be square and so give
"equal opportunity" to both horizontal and vertical (not to mention
square).
