Thanks to everyone for the thoughts and wishes. My current position is as a customer service rep (nice words for "ordertaker") and troubleshooter. Because of the "troubleshooter" part it is a new position. I think I am well-suited for it due to my many years as a courier; basically I will be dealing with problem pick ups and deliveries and resolving them with our clients.
Luckily I live about ten miles or more from the office. Once the casts are off I will by cyclo-commuting so I certainly will still be biking. The commute by transit is a bear - I will shave of close to an hour by biking. Of course the nice thing is that I can still transit on bad weather days. After one week at the new position it looks like it could be fun and interesting.
