I have an acquaintance who is still doing stock. He says the important
thing is extensive keywording, especially with scientific names - he has
a large library of underwater photography and birds. If someone buys one
he gets a little money & it doesn't take any additional work once he's
done his keywording.
The way he tells it he basically listed his entire catalog with some
agency and occasionally someone will buy rights to use something they
found searching by the scientific name.
