You've probably seen the rumors starting to come fast and furious regarding an upcoming Pentax announcement.
It may be worth noting that the Sony A99, a 24.3MP full frame, was announced on Sept. 12th. Rumors then said that this would be the sensor that Pentax would be developing a full frame camera around, but that Sony required 6 months lead time in the marketplace. 6 months from their announcement was on March 12th. The Sony A99 apparently did not SHIP until late October (Europe) to early/mid November (N. America). I tend to think that where there is smoke there is fire, but I suspect that there is going to be both a 24.3 MP full frame camera AND a 24.3 MP APS-C camera announced (perhaps both with your choice of anti-alias/anti-alias-free versions). If so, I expect the APS-C camera will be the long rumored K-3 and the Full Frame will be a whole new name. If we take a clue from the MX recently announced, then I would not be surprised to see it named LX or LX-D (and I hope that it will be LX-retro-styled, similar to what Olympus did with their OM-D). In any event, I think that Pentax should want to announce something prior to April 1st, when they were completely burned by Adam of PentaxForums last year, with a hoax that had many Pentaxians excited and then horribly let-down when the "joke" was realized. -- PDML Pentax-Discuss Mail List [email protected] http://pdml.net/mailman/listinfo/pdml_pdml.net to UNSUBSCRIBE from the PDML, please visit the link directly above and follow the directions.
