That sounds like a fun project! I take a lot of indoor action photos at gymnastics & track meets... and if the indoor light situation is anything like the venues I'm familiar with, you'll find yourself thanking the Gods of Ridiculously High ISO for that k-5. :) At track meets, I find I need faster shutter speeds than at gymnastics... up around 1/1000 - 1/1500. At gymnastics, I can get away with 1/500, depending on the event... I usually use the 50-135, wide open. My ISOs go up as high as 16,000... but I'm not shooting for Trampoline Monthly, either. :)
I bet trampolining is more like gymnastics, speed-wise. I'd take advantage of that spot at the top of their trajectory, where motion kind of slows for a moment before they come back down... Looking forward to seeing what you get. :) -c On Thu, Mar 28, 2013 at 9:47 AM, David J Brooks <[email protected]> wrote: > > Hi all. > > An acquaintance of mine (he was the guy that started our local > community radio station) has a step son that is doing very well as a > trampolinist, trampologist, er, well he jumps on a large rubber band. > Any way, he won a championship last week, and Jim asked me if i would > come up and do some action photos to send to a trampllinist, > trampologoist, big rubber band magazine. > It is indoor, will be around 56//;30 PM so sun will be on its way > down, and indoor lighting at the trampoline place.
