Ansel's BW images stand out as a result of his darkroom mastery. His printing often involved dozens of dodge and burn steps using masks. That kind of control would be near impossible in optical color printing where exposure levels affect colors differently. Converting his color prints to BW couldn't possibly produce results in any way comparable to his own BW prints.
Perhaps even more so, as I'm pretty sure most of his color photography was made with Kodachrome. Anyone know of work Adams did with color negative film?
I don't, but if there is, I'd appreciate a link. -- PDML Pentax-Discuss Mail List [email protected] http://pdml.net/mailman/listinfo/pdml_pdml.net to UNSUBSCRIBE from the PDML, please visit the link directly above and follow the directions.
