A bent ring? Do you mean it has a bent lens mount? That could easily be the 
cause of your problems, and it's unacceptable in any case.  If the camera looks 
beat up, you will probably have to pay for the repairs. If I dropped a camera, 
and it landed hard enough to cause physical damage, I would want it checked out 
and repaired whether the warrantee applied or not. No offense, but it sounds 
like placing the blame on you wouldn't be unreasonable. Good luck with this. 
I've found CRIS to be reasonable and helpful. Hope for the best, but don't 
count on it.
