Thanks Bruce, and thanks to everyone else who commented and looked. Lots of floating nests set out for the red necked grebes this year. There are at least two couples around this year. Maybe they'll finally hatch an egg.
Unfortunately they've attached dayglo pink balloons to the nests - to scare off predators I guess - but they certainly make nest photos difficult. Oh well, worth it if it helps an egg or two hatch.
