Allium is the Latin genus name for onions, garlic, leeks and so forth. In 
French the word for garlic is ail (old plural: aulx). There's a mayonnaise-like 
emulsion of oil and garlic called ailleul, which in Spanish is alioli - ali 
being garlic, oli being oil.
