It probably doesn't slow me down nearly as much as it seems to. But, it sure feels like an eternity when I'm trying to get off a quick shot.

I love my K 85/1.8. The green button kludge doesn't slow me down much.

Dont forget about the Smc-K 85mm F1.8 which is an exceptionally
good optic ( but it doesnt AF or have the A setting on the aperture dial
if that matters to you). They sell for around $500 on ebay lately.

I had a small windfall last night in a weekly drawing at the club where
I work which would allow me to get the lens -- which is obviously much
more affordable than the 77/1.8 is. Alternatively, I could sock the
money away and continue saving until I can afford the Real McCoy.

Anybody have any guidance to offer --
Ken Rockwell seems to like the Samyang 85/1.4 a lot. Make of that what
you will.

Kennyboy has been linked to by actual paid photographic sites, and he
has sponsors, sad to say. It's not like he's always wrong, it's that
when he is and he's called out on it his response is either completely
defensive or "I meant to be funny", He's like the sleeping cat that
falls off the table, it try's to look cool and you can just /see/ the
thought bubble, "I meant to do that.", when really he didn't.
