I am fascinated by your (and Frank's) comments. Originally, due to
backlit-ness of the scene, the man on the right was pretty much in deep
shadow. I chose to bring him out some but not to make him as bright as
you seem to suggest. I thought that being rather dark-ish, he would work
nicely as a anchor of interest in the frame... But it would seem that my
plan failed, at least in the eyes of the viewers who commented on this
photograph.
