Yep, it is a part of New York history. The monthly Chowder meetings were always a hoot. They always included a guest speaker from the auto industry, and if he didn't please the crowd, they would hurl dinner rolls at him. Or her. I recall Janet Guthrie speaking there in the early '80s. If memory serves me, she was treated well. There were journalists among the membership, but most of the crowd was Madison Avenue ad guys with fat car accounts and big cigars.
