I'm glad I continued reading the thread before hitting "send" as I pretty much wrote the same thing as you. It pisses me off quite a lot. I usually just carry on reading the list and open any new links in another tab, then come back to the stalled one later and retry. If it still fails after a few attempts I give up. When the ads do load I find them extremely distracting and they often clash with the photo being presented. I deal with that by scrolling enough to make them disappear off the top of the screen.
