Bruce I did not get a chance to comment on the original. First let me
say I rather like still life art and you with studio lighting & Godfrey
with natural light have posted some very nice photos.
Although I acknowledge your specific goals with the original and believe
you achieved them, I prefer this one. If the vase was just a teensy bit
brighter it would be perfection IMHO.
By the way I have never once been successful in this genre.
