She's a "she" (see the SL).  ;-)

And while the beak is open what's coming out ain't singing. Red winged 
blackbirds can mimic other birds but much of their vocalization consists of 
angry squawks. 

She was letting me know she didn't want me there. Kept her distance but kept 
squawking while she flitted around me (but not too close), trying to get me to 
leave.  

I don't blame her.  ;-)

It's great, Frank. Good profile, he's singing, excellent colour and
detail. The blueness should be a simple WB tweak, but I like the
