That sounds an awful lot like a stupid idea I had when I was single. I suggested to someone that because we were both single, we should have a "practice date" on Valentine's Day. Not surprisingly (or at least, not surprisingly from a more mature perspective), it went over like a lead balloon.
OTOH, we're together more than two decades later, so it wasn't completely horrible, either...
