Ha! .. PJ is a pretty intelligent guy to not differentiate nose grease
from cleaning swirl marks on the glass coating.
I was a fool once in Tripoli, Libya not to differentiate dirt and dust
and lens coating damage before sinking $ 400 on a rare white face
Rolleiflex F 2.8, which other wise looked pristine along with its
Leather Case.
It did not have the aluminum lens cap, so that residual acid from the
leather case in touch with the convex lens element ate away the lens
coating.
Getting the front element recoated cost me another $ 80 in India.
Regards.
Bipin - from that far away enchanting land.

PJ: I would insist on a refund and then buy a better lens cheaper from KEH.
I bought a "BGN" Sigma 70-300 Macro lens from KEH with hood and
caps. It turned out as "EX+" compared to one in the Local Camera Shop
      at twice the price.
