John, the train is owned & operated by Iowa Interstate Railroad &
primarily used at fundraisers for small town Fire Depts. The train was
built in China & was the last long distance steam train in China when
they switched to diesel. It is manned by a rew of 15 volunteers when out
on exhibit. When not under steam power it is puled by a diesel. This day
the train was making three round trips of 15 miles between two small
towns steam one way and diesel on the return trip. $14 for 30 minute
ride. I bought a ticket but after boarding I realized I would not be
able to take photos of the train entering and leaving the town. So I
left my wife on board and drove to the next town to take these photos.
