Probably an early batch problem as I have had this lens since Feb 02
and I have heard of at least one early lens with a similar problem,
the group is sealed and the former is metal so it's anyone's guess as
to the source. I also bought an A24/2.8 in the past that had a
splattering of oily crap on on side of a pair of sealed internal
elements that could only have been deposited there prior to assembly.
I hope it's repairable.
