Yesterday, I ordered the custom slr m-plate slim with the hand strap attachment. The USPS was able to get it the 2.9 miles between their shop and my office overnight. It is a very well made piece of kit.
That's the good news. There are two pieces of less than wonderful news. First of all, the hand strap attachment interferes with the battery door on the K-5: http://www.flickr.com/photos/ellarsee/sets/72157634799370466/ The second bit of bad news is that while it works with my old manfrotto ballheads, it doesn't work with with my 804RC2 tilt and pan head. Since I have two ball heads that take arca-swiss plates, being able to use it with the tilt-pan head was a far bigger motivation for getting it than convenience if I need to use someone else's tripod, which could well be an RC2 plate. I've talked to them about doing a swap for their m-plate micro, and don't anticipate any problems.
