I don't bother worrying about all that. 

There are tons of great cameras out there, new and used. I pick what works well 
for me and use it. If the company dies, well, what I have has lost a bit of its 
resale value, but as long as it still works, who cares? Use it til it croaks, 
buy something else when the time comes.
