I bit the bullet and hit the go button on the new smugmug site.

It's nothing earth shattering and there are other designs that are
more contemporary, but I'm keeping my family in mind and not changing
things too much to fast.

For you others using Smugmug, this is based on the "Smugmug" design.

There are a few irregularities so far,

All of the featured photos for galleries were retained, but the
Featured photos for Categories (now called Folders) were randomly
replaced. It took about five minutes to clean that up.

I'm not sure if I want to retain the slideshow and the folders on the
home page. I might get rid of one or the other.

The slideshow is set to automatically resize based on the screen size.
It's changed sizes a couple of times so I'm not sure how to predict
it. You can set it to a fixed size but I'd rather not.

A few of my old videos were replaced by thumbnails or translated very,
very small. I'm waiting for an answer on support for this one.

I'm going to go through all of the galleries and probably pick
different gallery styles. The new styles are much cleaner than some
of the old.ones I used in the past.

I also need to go to my Squarespace blog and decide how to make a few
changes there to make the two look a little more integrated.

All in all, with a few minor exceptions, things moved rather easily.
The main thing to remember is that you can leave things the way they
are until you are ready to switch. And they have made it difficult to
switch by accident. You select the "unveil" button, then you get a
standard "are you sure?" message, then you have to type in a word and
click another button to finally make the changes go public.
