All photos and other important files go directly onto shares on my Windows Home Server which happily makes a duplicate copy right away.(on different drives)
LR imports my photos directly to a share on the WHS, so it gets duplicated by the time that I start perusing and editing. Every morning our laptops get backed up automatically by WHS. I can restore any file I want to from there as well. I can full restore my laptops from this backup.
