For what it's worth, most of the photos were taken in astrotracer mode.

Also, it is not surprising that I can push the ISO a lot harder with
the K-5 than I was able to with the K20.  For some reason the K20 seemed
a bit better at star photography than the K-x.  

It is important to learn where infinity focus actually is on your lenses
to do this.  Or, have something bright enough, at infinity, for your camera 
to autofocus on.  

I have not figured out the optimal settings on the K-5 for star photography,
but when trying for meteor trails, I suggest erring on the side of higher 
ISO and shorter exposure so that their brief passage is brighter in relation
to the stars.
