I was at an event last night with a bunch of colored lights on the ceiling.

I tried some photos of a young lady, using the IR flash, with the camera 
colorbalanced to make that come out neutral, and the shutter on bulb.
After the camera flashed, I rotated the camera and zoomed the 16-50.

The IR conversion seems to lend itself to interesting creative effects,
but not conventionally flattering portraits, unless you happen to have
a thing for women who look like zombies.  But, to paraphrase
Utah Phillips, "It's fun though!".
