John, indeed there are M42 adapters. I recommend spending the extra
money on the Real Genuine Pentax one though: "Mount Adapter K". The
horror stories about the eBay imitations getting jammed into camera
bodies are legion. Mine set me back $30 in 2007.
i have bought the eBay units, and removed the little spring before use … no
problems; have also bought M42 to m43 (Micro 4/3) adapter on eBay and it works
well (SMC Macro-Takumar 50/4 is a cool lens on m43)
