This came up on an OldTools list that I subscribe to. They often want to photograph difficult things, like stamped Maker's marks (in the end grain of wooden planes, for example). Here is a technique that is used by coin photographers (amongst others) and I thought I would pass it along in case it is of interest to anyone else.
The effect is just as if the subject is being lit by light that is coming OUT of the lens taking the photo. http://www.adorama.com/alc/0008237/article/Pinpoint-closeup-lighting Photo of set-up in use: http://boards.collectors-society.com/attachments/51339-axail-set-up.jpg -- Nothing is sure but death and Pentaxes. -- PDML Pentax-Discuss Mail List [email protected] http://pdml.net/mailman/listinfo/pdml_pdml.net to UNSUBSCRIBE from the PDML, please visit the link directly above and follow the directions.
