Quite a change for you, Cotty. Surprised. Got me thinking. Especially
since Doug mentioned Fujifilm too.

Thanks, Marnie aka Doe :-)

My only camera is, and has been for about 18 months now, a Fujifilm X10.

In about 18 months I'll be in the market forma X100s (in black if they
ever make the bugger). Have no wish for a system of cameras/lenses again
- my photography needs have changed over the years.

The X10 has a built in zoom with a useful focal range, is easy to
operate but has good manual control (except focus), s suits me for now.

I borrowed my son's 1D and some lenses for an outing recently, and in
fact have a short paid gig on Monday photographing a funfair - will be
using the same kit - and it is big and heavy. But it is bulletproof and
I wouldn't use anything else for that.

If it was just me I'd carry the X10 in the pocket.

Sorry, not much help. There's a reason a few people on here are using
Fuji. Try and get your hands on something like an XM-1 and a zoom.

Cheers
