The 105mm for 6X7 is really close to a 55mm lens
for the 35mm format in terms of horizontal angle of view.
I think that is a little too long for general purpose use.
The 90mm for 6X7 is more like a 45mm lens on the 35mm
format (horiz.). I find that more useful. The leaf shutter is
an added bonus with the 90mm BUT it makes the lens less
reliable and Pentax wont fix it anymore ( too many problems? ).
I have both the 90LS and the 105, but I'm rarely using the
105. I've done some tests on both and the performance on
them is virtually identical, GREAT! I called KEH to find out
how much they charge to overhaul the 90LS, and they get $135.
Not bad, but not cheap either. At least there is a third party
repair source at this time. One thing to be careful of the 90LS
is that there is a "U/S" switch on the bottom of the lens.
This is for "Usual" or "Special" use. If you accidently switch
it to "Special" use while using it normally, your pictures come
out BLANK. Problem is it's on the bottom and its easy not to
notice wrong switch setting. You have to be very careful when using
this 90LS lens. From what I understand, the 165mm LS lens doesnt
have this switch so it's not an issue. I dont have the 165mm LS (yet).
