came across an unusual craigslist posting:
<http://denver.craigslist.org/pho/4076504336.html>
i am not shilling for this guy, i just thought it was interesting … in case the
ad gets deleted, the text is below; the link to a video "the kinds of shots you
will be able to get", together with the ad gave me some insight into how simple
movements create dynamism in time lapse shots:

that didn't play correctly for me, but the vimeo version did:

(i suggest turning the soundtrack off; Dustin Farrell is not Godfrey Reggio)
main text of the ad:
I'm selling my DIY timelapse slider today and I just wanted to give you as much
information about it as I can so that you know what you'll be getting. About 2
months of design and $1000 went into this slider but its time to get ride of it
and move on, hence the low price! Here we go!
The track is made of aluminum and so is the camera base. (See photos) on the
camera base is a high torque motor, and computer main board wired to a few
switches to control the slider direction and speed. Speaking of speed you can
set the speed of your camera to make it across the slider anywhere between 50
min to 7 minutes. The belt (made my GATES) is attached to the motor and weaves
through two gear pulleys to keep form slipping during use and ruining your
timelapse. Also on the camera base is a tripod ball head for your camera that
comes with a quick release plate for your camera. I am also going to include my
personal tripods and clips so you can shoot with this slider where ever you
want. I have a battery that was used with this slider but it doesn't work so
you will need to buy one just like it so you can shoot for day and even weeks
without charging it.
I am going to include a link to a you tube video showing the kinds of shots you
will be able to get with this slider.
Keep in mind most sliders are only 3 to 6ft and will run you $900 to $1,500.
Some pro sliders can also be $2,000. Save some money and time and just enjoy
photography and taking photos with this slider dolly.
