You can replace the spot-metering mode with center-weighted using Pentax Function 1. In other words, if you select center instead of spot with that Pentax Function, then pushing the spot button will select center instead of spot. Quote from manual, regarding the Pentax Function: 1 Selecting the spot or center-weighted metering system Details: Select the spot or center-weighted metering system when switching from multi(8)-segment metering mode using the metering mode button. Upon delivery, the spot metering system is selected.
