Amid a loud chorus of "No!", here's my struggle. Glass takes up space. It's heavy to carry around. (Which is why I gave up 8x10 -- and THAT was difficult!)
I have 3 zooms FA28-105, 18-55WR, and Sigma 70-300 And some primes FA35/2, FA28/2.8, F50/1.7, M*300/4, and the 70/2.4LTD Plus the F 1.7xTC Obviously there is some duplication here. The question is how to thin the herd? I'm thinking of parting with the lower 2 primes, the lower 2 zooms, and just getting the 16-50/2.8. Then I think -- these things will go through the roof when full frame comes out. (someday ...) I remember selling my F*300/4.5 a year before the DSLR came out. That was the dumbest thing I ever sold. What a lens! Problem is ... I have dreams of shooting professionally. But I really don't. I'm more thinking of giving up that fantasy and just enjoying the hobby. So after this thought experiment it comes down to this: FA28-105 - $80 18-55WR - $80 FA35/2 - $300 FA28/2.8 $250 M* 300/4 $200 F1.7x TC $300 And my Blad outfit -- 500C, black 80/2.8 T*, grip, two 120 backs, prism, filters, and even some film. $1000. That will leave me with the Sigma zoom, 50, 70, and I'll add a 16-50 with green left over. And space. -- PDML Pentax-Discuss Mail List [email protected] http://pdml.net/mailman/listinfo/pdml_pdml.net to UNSUBSCRIBE from the PDML, please visit the link directly above and follow the directions.
