So where to start.

<RANT>
I just finished uninstalling AVG and Installing Avast on my small laptop. The reason being that the latest update from AVG failed to properly install and every attempt ended with the same failure. I could find nothing in their support forums that even hinted at solving the problem, so out with AVG in with Avast.

Why Avast, well I needed something in a hurry, I've used it in the past, and it's not a Symantec product.

Well Avast, added their own little twist. I downloaded their installer, and the splash screen wanted install Google Chrome, and make it my default browser... Hum, I use a lot of free Google stuff but I always feel dirty about it, so no thanks.

Well in spite of my request, the installer installs Chrome anyway /and/ makes it my default browser. I find this out without even opening a browser because, get this, Avast identifies the Google updater as a root kit. Sheesh.
</rant>

Thanks for listening, I feel better now.
