Yup.  I originally got some backdrop stands from ephoto discounters,
which are basically the same as light stands, but they have a 
weird thread bolt coming out of the top.  

I have since acquired some extending poles that work on light stands
and those are a bit more convenient than the other stands, so that's 
what I've been using more frequently.

I also have some closet rod hangers bolted to my wall:

And I'll have one backdrop in the hook, and another up on the shelf part.
I did end up doubling them up on both ends, so it's not quite as cheap as
I'd hope. but it is convenient for storing my backdrops, and they are right 
there when I want to pull them down.

for hangng fabric what I do is I get some mini spring clamps

and poke shower curtain rings through the handles:

and I end up with these very handy clips hanging from the conduit, or pipe that 
I'm using, that I can clip whatever fabric to.
