Yup. I originally got some backdrop stands from ephoto discounters, which are basically the same as light stands, but they have a weird thread bolt coming out of the top. I have since acquired some extending poles that work on light stands and those are a bit more convenient than the other stands, so that's what I've been using more frequently.
