Pairing the K-3 with the 18-135 will guarantee that you never need to use the anti-aliasing function. Seriously though, they could pair it with the 16-50/2.8, but even with deep discounts that would raise the cost by $1,000. I don't know how bad the 18-135 is, but the 18-55 was surprisingly good for a kit lens. I suspect that the 18-135 WR will outperform the vast majority of people who buy the kit. It will give them a weather sealed camera with a focal length range that will cover the vast majority of their needs out of the box. >From there, people can fill in with special purpose primes or zooms as their needs dictate. I hope that they pair the camera with special rebates on lenses, similar to the discount on the kit lens. I wonder what they could sell a k-3, 16-50 and 50-135 starter kit for, and still make a profit? B&H has those three for $3,700 add $630 for the AF540FGZII or $430 for the af360 II. I wonder if Ricoh could sell the body and two lenses as a kit for $3,000? Right now, however, they are selling the cameras to people who will pay full list price to get the camera right away. I bet that body only outsells the full kit 10:1 for the next month, because there aren't going to be a lot of people pre-ordering this camera for their first SLR, or for that matter changing over from another brand to the K-3 in the next month or two. I expect that most of the people buying the kit would buy it body only, but for $300, the 18-135 WR could make a nice weatherproof walkabout lens. Let's say that in six months Ricoh finally announces the FF model. It'll be interesting to see what incentives they offer on the K-3 at that point. -- Larry Colen [email protected] http://red4est.com/lrc -- PDML Pentax-Discuss Mail List [email protected] http://pdml.net/mailman/listinfo/pdml_pdml.net to UNSUBSCRIBE from the PDML, please visit the link directly above and follow the directions.
