What I find interesting/funny is that many years ago you paid extra to get a 
black camera body and the non black/silver edition was considered base! A 'sign 
of a pro' was the wearing away of the black coating and the subsequent brassing 
spots that appeared at the highly used areas of the camera body.

I wonder what caused the switch in higher pricing for the silver?
