Paul,

Why does it always have to be "what I use is better than what you use" with a
little sneering commentary?

I didn’t say anything against Epson Scan. I just don’t use it or install it, I
use VueScan for scanning and find it has the best scanning algorithms and most
fine-grained control. It is updated regularly and is the most compatible app
with the largest number of scanning devices on three OS platforms. It is not
easy to use, I agree, but I don’t care. I have used it extensively to drive
Epson, Nikon, Minolta, Polaroid, and other scanners, and I even process raw
files out of camera with it occasionally. I’ve been using it as my primary
scanner app since 2000.

I don’t like the automation in Epson Scan and other scanning apps. I find it
gets in my way. And they’re only occasionally updated, they typically only work
with one or two scanners, the interfaces are all over the map, etc etc. They're
all a lot more expensive unless they are provided by the manufacturer, WHEN the
manufacturer still provides them (for instance, Nikon Scan hasn't been offered
for OS X since about 2008).

You like Epson Scan? Good on you. Wait for it and hope Epson updates it soon.

Sheesh.

BTW: the Epson 2400 driver isn’t listed when I check it using the web page tool
I posted, but that’s because the drivers are already included and installed in
OS X Mavericks.
