Hi David ... The 40.5 thread is for the Digital Spotmeter, and, like Bob, I usually use a step ring and an appropriately sized hood, and that allows easy use of the more typical larger diameter filters over the meter. The Pentax Spotmeter V uses a 46mm thread, and while I have a few 46mm filters for some Leica lenses, I usually use a step ring for that as well.
