Not clear to me. The language is similar to what is in the K-5 manual, except for the added vignetting correction. But I haven't done anything with this on the K-5. >From the K-3 manual: "When the file format is set to RAW or RAW+ the >correction information is saved as a RAW file parameter and you can select >[ON] or [OFF] when developing the RAW images. For the RAW Development >function, [Color Fringe Corrector] can also be set." The RAW development in Playback mode allows you to take a captured RAW and Develop the image as a JPEG i n the camera, with many selectable parameters from JPEG quality and size to use of digital filters to use of these lens-correction features. So, I don't think the lens corrections affect JPEGs unless you selectively use them that way during in-camera development. What happens to the "RAW file parameter" info once the image is downloaded? Beats me. I assume the Pentax software takes advantage of it, I don't know if LR does and if this is over and above the LR lens correction profiles. I never paid attention before since I never have seen (or had pointed out to me) evidence of distortion or lateral chromatic aberration and so I just passed on by this in the K-5 (and earlier?) manuals. It just happened to catch my eye while going through the K-3. BTW, the K-3 manual is incredibly easier to read. The same information is presented in a much more concise straightforward manner. E.g., there is an HDR-capture function on the K-5 (and earlier?) which is similar to the K-3, though the K-3 allows user setting of the EV range of the 3 exposures. And I have been experimenting with HDR via bracketing and post-process software. Any thought of using the in-camera HDR was squashed by all of the provisos and footnotes and limitations. The K-3 is cleaner. Within a month I may be hollering for more details, more info, more footnotes, but as a getting-started manual the K-3 looks about right to me. stan -- PDML Pentax-Discuss Mail List [email protected] http://pdml.net/mailman/listinfo/pdml_pdml.net to UNSUBSCRIBE from the PDML, please visit the link directly above and follow the directions.
