I've got Photoflo & spare Gepe mounts I could put them in.

I found some red sable artists brushes at Jerry's Artarama that are both
stiff enough AND very soft. They seem to take the dirt off if it's only
on the base side without leaving scratches. For the stubborn spots I've
got a cup of Photoflo that I added a drop of dishwasher detergent to.

I use a different sable brush to wash the base side with that detergent
solution. Then I blot it against a micro-fiber cleaning cloth to dry it.

It's working so far. I've only had one that was so bad I had to take
it out of the mount to wash. After cleaning it, I dipped it into the
regular Photoflo solution & waved it around in the bathroom until it air
dried & remounted it in one of my Gepe mounts.

Photo flow ?

are they in cardboard mounts? I would imagine you could rescue the
slides by just dipping them in a wash with photo flow in it but the
cardboard would likely get pretty messed up. Nasty job regardless

In my home repair/decluttering, I've run across a couple of boxes
of old Kodachromes I had packed away. They're all I managed to
salvage from the binders destroyed when my roof came off during
Hurricane Fran in 1996.

They look like they were washed in muddy water.

Is there any way to clean them without destroying them?
